PTA Updates - April 24, 2022

Events & Updates:

  • Last Call to Order Yearbooks: (today) Today is the LAST DAY to place your order; go here! Yearbook ID: 14589222.
  • April Dine Out - Chick-Fil-A: (this week) Join us THIS Tuesday 4/26, from 3-7pm at the Chick-Fil-A in Research Row. Dine in and carryout only. Mention Beall and 15% of your purchase will go to the PTA. See the flyer.
  • Science Expo - Friday 4/29 in the Beall Gym - 6:30-8pm: (this week) Our Budding Scientists will share their science projects with Visiting Scientists, please join us! All Beall families are welcome to attend even if your students are not participating. Mask wearing is encouraged. The evening's line up includes:
    • 6:00 - 6:30pm Set-Up science project (for Budding Scientists)
    • 6:30 - 7:00pm Rockville Science Center Robotics Team Demonstration (for All)
    • 7:00 - 8:00pm Science Fair -- Budding Scientist share science project with Visiting Scientists (for All)
    • 8:00 - 8:30pm Breakdown science project (for Budding Scientists)
  • Spring Fundraiser & Dragon Dash: (happening now) We are counting down the days until the Beall Spring Fun Fun - the Dragon Dash, on 5/6 (rain date 5/13). More info here. We kicked off the Spring Fundraiser portion on 4/19 and we are off to a great start!! So far, 47 students have registered for the fundraiser and we have raised $2,295 (goal: $5,000; stretch goal $10,000). Donations have come in from 13 states and even from abroad!! We truly appreciate all the support so far. If you haven't already, please register now (School Identifier: 62227804287ef). Go Dragons!!   • May PTA Meeting - Tuesday 5/3: Our next PTA meeting is Tuesday 5/3 at 6:30pm. Please join us at this link! Meeting ID: 665 233 2642, Passcode: zx5hA0. We will be approving the April meeting minutes and approving our Bylaws. We will also be voting in the PTA Board for next school year. View the slate of officers.
  • Bike to School Day - Wednesday 5/4: We have a volunteer hoping to organize Beall participation. She needs help working with the city and organizing possible meeting points. Please email Shannon if you are interested in helping!

MCCPTA Updates:

  • Beall ES COVID-19 Reported Cases Increase Slightly: Beall had five COVID-19 cases reported over the last 10 days, as of April 22, according to MCPS’s COVID-19 School Dashboard. One week earlier, Beall had 4 COVID-19 cases reported over the preceding 10 days.
  • Complete Statewide Strategic Planning Survey: Parents have the opportunity to complete the Maryland State Department of Education’s strategic planning survey, to inform MSDE’s multi-year strategic plan. MCCPTA’s Gifted Education Committee urges parents to complete the survey and to voice your support for gifted education in your responses. Complete the survey. Review fact sheet by Md. Coalition for Gifted and Talented Education.
  • Poster Art Contest to Celebrate Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month: Students are encouraged to submit originated artwork reflecting significant people, places, or moments in AAPI history or culture for the third annual AAPI Heritage Month poster art contest. Prizes will be given for first, second, and third place in grades K-2, 3-5, middle school, and high school. Complete online application.
  • MCPS to Hold Community Conversations: Reminder that MCPS Superintendent Monifa McKnight is holding community conversations, titled “All Together Now: Putting Our Students First,” to discuss MCPS’s strengths, priorities, and opportunities for how the system can better serve its students. The remaining sessions will be held on Wed., Apr. 27, 7:30 p.m., at Walter Johnson HS; and Sat., May 7, 11:00 a.m., at Paint Branch HS. RSVPs are encouraged. RSVP for the event.
  • Montgomery County Holds Vaccination Clinics: The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services continues to hold vaccine clinics around the County. Read more. Schedule a vaccine appointment.
