  • MCCPTA’s Draft Advocacy Priorities: MCCPTA is seeking feedback from school PTAs on its draft 2021-2022 advocacy priorities (click here to view), including potential revisions or additions. These priorities guide MCCPTA in its advocacy throughout the year — i.e., it allows the organization’s leadership to advocate to the Board of Education and MCPS without needing to return to the MCCPTA membership each time an issue arises. The deadline for school PTAs to submit feedback is October 22. The Beall PTA intends to discuss these priorities and seek member feedback during its meeting this coming Tuesday, October 5.

COVID Committee Update: Beall PTA, in coordination with Beall ES leadership, created the COVID Committee and held its first meeting on Sept 23rd.  Committee members include Dr. Taylor-Cox, Wendy Whitaker (PTA President), Mike Martel (Chair) and 7 additional parent volunteers representing all grade levels.  Current focus areas include:

  • Active engagement with MCPS, MCCPTA, Beall ES, and adjacent schools to inform COVID-related planning at Beall ES and within the Beall PTA.
  • Survey development to solicit feedback from parents, students and faculty to inform COVID-related planning and develop near- to mid-term priorities.  Please take the time to respond to any surveys you receive.
  • Leveraging outdoor space and operations, particularly for outdoor eating, with an emphasis on forthcoming cold/inclement weather.
  • Fundraising to purchase supplies or equipment for Beall ES with PTA funds.
  • Beall PTA recently purchased seat cushions for students to eat outside, and bins on wheels for movement of said cushions.

Other Community Resources:

Please click here to receive information about your specific school OR email Cyndi @ [email protected] Looking to form new kindergarten, first grade, and second grade troops.

AUGUST 29, 2021

Happy First Day of School to all of our Dragon families! We look forward to working together to make this a fun, successful school year. We invite you to become a member of the Beall PTA for your child(ren) because increasing our membership, even by one, makes it possible to provide important educational resources, speak up on important issues and create a stronger school community. Click Here To Sign Up!  Please note: all PTA member families receive a printed student directory & access to the online directory portal.

First Up:

  • Thank you to Jennifer Kudashov for organizing our Welcome Back Staff Breakfast & to all of the families who donated items and/or their time to show our incredible staff how much we appreciate them!
  • Thank you to Rebecca Thessin for organizing our two Kindergarten Play Dates this summer! We are excited to see all of our new Dragons thrive this school year.

Supporting Beall during COVID:

  • The PTA is well positioned to help the Beall administration maintain the safety for our kids in any way possible. Mr. Alter conveyed the need for outdoor cushions and we are delivering! At the first PTA meeting we look forward to confirming PTA approval for reimbursing the cushions.
  • Beall would like to engage with a PTA committee on additional partnership input and ideas; the PTA board has elected our Treasurer Mike Martel to lead a COVID Committee. More to come as we get it started!
  • Click here to opt in to MCPS's pool COVID testing program.

Looking Ahead:

  • Back To School Picnic - September 10 from 6-8pm Join us behind Beall for our Back to School Picnic. Bring your chairs and blankets & enjoy food trucks & fun together.
  • First 2021-22 Beall PTA Meeting - October 5 at 6:30pm Join us at 6:30PM for our first Beall PTA meeting Zoom details will be shared closer to the event. We will start with a Meet the Specials session with our wonderful PE, Art, Music & Media Center teachers!

PTA Volunteers Needed:

  • Fundraising Chair- This might sound like a big job but it is very manageable. Our PTA membership fees and dine out nights provide a good amount for our annual operating expenses, but we really would love to have a parent help us initiate two additional fundraisers this year, even if we just have simple campaigns in fall and spring. Please contact Wendy  Whitaker at [email protected] if you are willing to help us!
  • Fall Movie Night Lead- This is a fun event planned for October 29, 2021. In the past this has been indoor but we are looking to have it outdoors, with food trucks, and pumpkins! We will ensure multiple volunteers at the event but we really need someone to jump in and help lead this. Please contact Wendy  Whitaker at [email protected] if you are willing to help us!

Connect with the PTA:

  • Join our new closed Facebook group to connect with other parents & share information. Go here to join!
