February PTA Meeting

Do you want your children to become more involved and educated about the environment?  Are you interested in helping to strengthen the school and its staff?
Come to our next PTA meeting on Tuesday February 7th from 7-8 pm!  Lauren Simpson from the Audubon Naturalist Society will discuss our new partnership with the ANS called Greenkids. Greenkids is a two year grant-funded educational outreach program that helps to create a “greener” school while achieving established curriculum goals at every grade level.  Children will work on projects such as:
  • Growing a lettuce garden and having a salad party
  • Conducting an energy audit and making corresponding changes to reduce energy
  • Composting to make fertile soil out of lunch scraps and other waste
  • Making "green" desk cleaners
  • Reducing litter from lunches
  • Keeping track of our school's progress on a centrally located bulletin board
At the end of the two years, the school can apply for “Green School” status.  Check here for more information about Greenkids: http://www.anshome.org/index.php/greenkids-home#lessons
Hope you can join us to learn more about how the school and we can help the environment!
As always, onsite childcare is available through the fabulous providers of Global Children's Center.
