Resources

Communications with the Beall Community

Welcome to Beall!  There are SO many ways to keep informed of all things Beall and to get involved in the school and PTA.

Backpack Mail

Many important documents come in backpack mail from your child’s teachers, the school, PTA, after school vendors and more, so please make sure you check your child’s backpack every day.

Beall PTA and Beall Elementary websites

The daily updated www.beallpta.org has a ton of information including:

. . . and much more!

The school’s website, https://www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/schools/bealles/, has a calendar, teacher and staff contact information, resources for students, and much more.

Bulletin Boards

Bulletin boards are located inside the school's front doors and outside and around the corner from the gym door (on your right as you head outside the school), near the walkers’ exit.

Email

  • You will receive periodic and important Email blasts from www.beallpta.org once you join the PTA as a member or sign up as a supporter on the site. This is one-way communication but instantaneous. You will get urgent messages in a timely manner through these email messages, which generally come from Communications@BeallPTA.org. If you wish, unsubscribe anytime by clicking on the removal message at the bottom of the email or log into your account.

  • A Beall PTA Newsletter comes out once a month starting in September via email subscription only.

  • The Principal Newsletter is published every two weeks. Please, please, please make sure the Beall ES office has your correct email on file, as this Newsletter and other important updates are often sent directly from Principal Alter. The school’s email list is not run by the PTA.

Monthly Beall PTA Meetings

Beall PTA meetings are held monthly in Beall’s Media Center and are open to the Beall community.  These meetings generally are scheduled for the first Tuesday of each month.  Child care is provided by Global.  Periodically, workshops and other special events / activities are planned as part of the monthly meetings.  This is a great way to find out what’s going on at school and to get involved.

Box Tops & Labels for Education

Beall can earn free money for our school under the Box Tops for Education and Labels for Education programs just by clipping box tops and labels off of participating products and sending them in with your child! Look on boxes of Cheerios, Hanes, Kleenex, Betty Crocker, Bisquick, and more. See all the Box Tops for Education products at boxtops4education.com (or view the complete list here) and Labels for Education products at labelsforeducation.com/Earn-Points/Participating-Products. Clip them neatly, put them in Ziploc bags & send them to your child(ren)'s homeroom(s) by the January deadline! Or, leave them in the box in the school office designated for box tops and labels. The top three classes that turn in the most box tops and labels by January 15 will receive prizes! Reward checks go to the Beall PTA.

If you have any questions about Box Tops & Labels for Education, please email Fundraising@BeallPTA.org.

Here's a way that you can painlessly and easily benefit our school by doing shopping you already do! The Beall PTA has joined an affiliate program with Amazon that may be used as a fundraiser!  This program is separate to Amazon Smile and has the potential to earn our school substantially more money, but we need your help to make it happen! How does it work?  Follow the easy steps below:
1. Access the Amazon site by following this link.  (Did you catch that?  That was THE most important step as it only works if you follow the link!)
2. Log into your Amazon account
3. Shop as you normally do
4. Complete your purchases and checkout
5. Make money for our school!
6. Repeat. Often.
What's the catch?  There is no catch!  There is no cost to you at all for participating. This will be a year-round event so be sure to access Amazon via... you guessed it, the link whenever you're shopping.
Feel free to share the link with friends and family so that we may earn even more!  Think of all the money our school can earn!  And it all starts with one simple...click!

AmazonSmile

AmazonSmile – Amazon donates 0.5% of the price of your eligible AmazonSmile purchases to the charitable organization of your choice. Simply go to smile.amazon.com and designate Beall Elementary School PTA as your recipient.  Remember to return to AmazonSmile to make your Amazon purchases (account information is the same for both AmazonSmile and Amazon). Reward checks go directly to the Beall PTA.

*If Homework Isn’t Helpful, What Is?

  • Family meals. According to a study conducted by Columbia University, when compared to teens who have five to seven family dinners per week, those who have fewer than three meals per week are one and a half times more likely to report getting mostly C’s or lower grades in school.
  • Reading. Several studies suggest reading for pleasure is a better predictor of test scores than quantity of homework, yet a 2006 Scholastic/Yankelovich study found that reading for pleasure declines sharply after age eight. The number one reason: too much homework.
  • Schools can eliminate or reduce homework. The following schools are among those that have eliminated homework or limited homework to afterschool reading: *Refer to our website for more schools that have addressed homework. Bloomfield Middle School, Bloomfield, MO; Grant Elementary School, Glenrock, WY; Helendale Elementary and Middle Schools, Helendale, CA; VanDamme Academy K-8, Aliso Viejo, CA; Nottingham East Academy, Nottingham,UK; Oak Knoll Elementary School, Menlo Park, CA; Tiffin Boys’ School in Kingston, London, UK --- and we know that our neighbor Gaithersburg Elementary School did!
