How are we doing?

In order for the PTA Board to do a better job serving our Dragon community, please take less than 5 minutes to answer the following questions. We greatly appreciate your feedback! Names of responders will be kept confidential but you may check below if you want to have your responses displayed on the website or not. By filling out a survey, your name will be entered to win a drawing for a $25 gift certificate to Mamma Lucia. Last day to respond and be entered into the raffle is January 15, 2013. 

The PTA has provided services such as communications (such as Dragon Dateline Newsletter, Fridge Notes, the listserv & eblasts), workshops (such as Race to Nowhere, Sexuality communications), community events (such picnics, Dragon Men workshops, dance/sock hop), support the school's staff (gifts, social/food events, Staff Appreciation Week and financial reimbursements for classroom related supplies), raise funds for the school to cover for items that MCPS do not have money to pay for (Mixed Bags, Dine Out and Book Fair) and many other important events and issues such as advocacy with the Board of Education, hold a Science Expo, maintain the Butterfly Garden, create a school directory and yearbook, coordinate after school classes (Legos, Mad Science, sports), etc. We want to know what you think is worthwhile and important.

Q: What do you see as the top three items that Beall PTA should focus on? They might be community events (Autumn Picnic, Movie Night, Dance, etc), advocacy such as letting the community know about City Council hearings, fundraising (Mixed Bag, Dine Out or Book Fair), liaison with the school (Coffee with Mr. Alter), providing workshops (Race to Nowhere, Sexuality Communication, Positive Discipline), creating a school directory, Spirit Gear, communications (bulletin boards, newsletter, Fridge Notes), etc.
A: I think the school directory isn’t handled well… I never know when it’s finished or how to obtain one.

A: I love the book fair and so do my kids… I would like to see that continued.

A: I think you have really reached out alot to the community, in a more personalized way. I think it is great that you even have interpreters, as Beall is such a diverse community. I do like that you have helped to organize the coffee with Mr. Alter as I think that really helps with the school communication. Letting teachers know that volunteers can assist them if they want to do more fun-learning in the classroom or the school as a whole Ex: (I have heard of schools that create craft fairs by kids where the kids sell their items to other kids utilizing the skills they are learning in school). Making the 100th day of school a bigger celebration at Beall. Thank you for all you do!

Q: The PTA Board of Directors are made up of the elected officials (one president, two vice presidents and one secretary), the Principal, two chairpersons and a MCCPTA delegate. We meet mostly by email and about 2 to 3 meetings per year. Would you like to serve on the PTA Board of Directors next year and have one of us get in touch with you?

Q: What is your favorite PTA event or service? What can't you live without?
A: I love the directory. I think the movie night is great for the younger kids.

Q: Can you tell us why you used or not used the babysitting at Parents Night Out? It was held November 30 from 6:30-8:30 pm.
A: I had a 3rd child that was too young. Also, thought it could be a little longer.
