Workshop: Positive discipline for parents of children grades K-5

Discipline means to teach.  Positive discipline means to teach in a constructive and loving manner.  Positive discipline provides an opportunity for parents to teach their children the skills they need to become effective, happy, contributing, respectful members of their families and society.”  Using everyday examples including the issue of homework and chores, we will learn ways to apply this method.

Our presenter is Jill Lipton, a licensed clinical social worker who has been practicing for over 10 years.  She earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Brooklyn College and a master’s degree in social work from Hunter College School of Social Work.  She works with children, adolescents, adults, and families at JSSA.  Jill’s areas of expertise include anxiety disorders and family communication issues.  Jill was also an experienced volunteer for the Parent Warm Line where she offered guidance on parenting issues.
