December PTA Meeting & PEP Workshop

Tuesday, December 01, 2015 at 06:30 PM
Beall Elementary School - Media Center

Please join us for the December PTA General Meeting in the Beall Media Center, 6:30-8PM.  As always, childcare is offered by Global, but you must RSVP so Global knows how many children to expect.

We are pleased to welcome Pascale Brady, of the Parent Encouragement Program (PEP), to our meeting to address a topic of interest to us all -- The Stuff of Life, Your Child's Responsibilities at Home and at School.

Why join us?  Are you frustrated by your elementary-school child's lack of personal organization?  Are jackets going to school but never coming home?  Are assignments going home but never making it back to school?  Learn how to motivate youngsters to plan ahead and take responsibility for their belongings.

Click here for our event flyer and to learn more about our speaker.  Click here to learn more about PEP.

We hope to see you there!

Calling All Volunteers - We Need You

Support our Dragons by volunteering this year!  The PTA can run all of its amazing events ONLY if it has volunteers to help.  The teachers, staff, and students really appreciate the time you give as a volunteer.  Volunteering strengthens our community, and your kids love to see you there!

Take a few minutes and fill out our Volunteer Interest Form so we can follow up with the perfect volunteer opportunity for you.

There truly is something for everyone, requiring different amounts of time at different times of day or night.  Some of the activities in which you can still get involved this year are:

  • Staff Holiday Luncheon
  • Science Expo

  • Silent Auction

  • Multicultural Night

  • March Madness (Parents vs. Teachers Basketball game)

  • End of the Year Family Picnic

  • Staff Appreciation Week events

Another important volunteer role is as a Lunch time and/or Recess Monitor.  Volunteers are always welcome and very much needed to assist with lunch and recess for all grades.  There is no experience required or need to sign up in advance.  Use the tips here if you are unsure about (or need to be reminded of) lunch or recess monitor duties or procedures.  Lunch and recess times are listed by grade, below:

Kindergarten  11:00-11:30
Grade 1  11:20-11:50
Grade 2  12:30-1:00
Grade 3  11:45-12:15
Grade 4  12:55-1:25
Grade 5  12:05-12:35

Kindergarten  11:30-12:10
Grade 1  11:50-12:30

To get more information or ask questions about what role(s) might work best for you, feel free to contact the PTA’s Volunteer Coordinators, Mary Newcomb and Tracy Saltarelli, at  THANK YOU for getting involved with your child’s school - YOU can make a huge difference with your involvement!
