Have you heard about the Beall PTA Science Expo?  Now set for Tuesday, February 9th (due to all our snow days), it's going to be an AWESOME EXPLOSION of SCIENCE!  We turn the Beall Gym over to our budding Beall scientists for an evening of science fun: each student who chooses to do a project gets an assigned table space with plenty of room for a display board describing some bit of SCIENCE that kid has done at home, whether an experiment or a fascinating science phenomenon.  You can expect crystals, volcanoes, projectiles, animals, chemistry, space and lots of other super cool stuff.  Any Beall student who wants to participate can present a project of their choice at the Expo, and everyone is invited to come see the projects!

Students can use this web form to sign up to present a project, and parents can volunteer here to help make the Expo happen.  Documents, handouts, etc., related to the Expo are archived here.

Need an idea?  Not sure how to begin?  Click here for ideas and also a form that you can print and return to register your student(s) if you are not able to complete the registration online.

MCCPTA Day of Action for Public Education: Get on the Bus on February 15th

We encourage our Dragons to Get on the Bus next Monday, February 15th (MCPS holiday), for the MCCPTA's Day of Action for Public Education in Annapolis, MD.  That's right!  You can sign up here to ride a bus from one of our local high schools to travel to Annapolis with parents, kids and others in our Beall community to talk to our legislators about public education.  (Donations to the "bus fund" are not required but are appreciated to help defray the cost of the buses.)

See below for sign up information and ways that the MCCPTA's VP of Advocacy, Lynne Harris, has suggested participants can maximize their trip and get involved:

Here is the Eventbrite link to sign up to ride the bus, and make a donation to the "bus fund" if you can:

Here's the link to the MCCPTA Advocacy blog -- there you'll find issue specific blogposts with information on pending legislation, so you can do your homework on the issues you care about and call and make those appointments to speak with legislators:

Beall PTA Silent Auction This April!

The PTA is thrilled to announce that this April (date TBD), we will be hosting a Silent Auction event.  Stay tuned for more details, but go ahead and start thinking about how you will get involved.

The Silent Auction Committee is looking for volunteers to assist with obtaining and organizing donations of items, services, etc.  In addition, we are asking the Beall Community to consider donating to the Silent Auction -- we would love to engage and showcase our local Beall Community and encourage everyone to donate at least one service or good.

Get creative!  Examples of items and services we would like donated are:

Art or fine crafts
Legal services/consultations
Health services (personal training sessions, nutrition counseling)
Photography packages
Gift cards

Pre-made theme baskets or items to be included in gift baskets, such as:

-- Wine and Cheese
-- Adult or Youth Book Lover
-- Snow Day!
-- Gardening
-- Cooking

For theme baskets, consider getting a group together so everyone can brainstorm on fun ideas and pitch in an item or two; room parents, consider organizing class parents to create a basket that can be donated on behalf of the class!.

We would love to accept any services or items you are able to donate.  To volunteer to donate an item or service, please contact our Donation Coordinator, Mara Miller, at or complete the attached donation form (print and write-in or type in and print) and send it to school in an envelope labeled "Beall PTA:  Silent Auction" or email an electronic version to Mara at

Thank you for supporting Beall!
